With more than 4,500 exhibitors, the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas hosts an intimidating array of technology. This photo gallery highlights some of the many IOT-related products and technologies on show at the event.

Samsung's vision is that we’ll use our voice to control household appliances such as washing machines and ovens. At CES, it announced plans to embed its Bixby assistant software into connected TVs, fridges, washing machines and other devices.

Samsung has also designed Bixby to integrate with cars, allowing drivers to remotely set the temperature inside the car or check the fuel level.

Bosch won a CES Innovation Award for its “universal connectivity unit”, which retrofits cars with Wi-Fi and other wireless technology required to communicate with other cars and infrastructure.

Bosch is also demonstrating its Indego S+ robotic lawn mower at CES. The mower connects to the Internet to check weather forecasts and allows voice control via Amazon Alexa.

This ultra-compact Nordic Semiconductor nRF9160 System-in-Package provides IOT capabilities for wearables, medical products and other devices. The low power unit has LTE-M and NB-IOT connectivity, an ARM Cortex M-33 CPU, Assisted GPS and analogue and digital interfaces, among other features.

Microsoft Azure Sphere combines a microcontroller, OS and security services, to be used in the development of secure connected devices. Avnet is the first Azure Sphere distributor, and it is showing off this Azure Sphere MT3620 Starter Kit at CES this week.

Another Microsoft IOT technology on show at CES this week is Microsoft’s Azure Digital Twins technology. Using a Microsoft HoloLens, attendees can see how infrastructure changes might affect a Los Angeles neighbourhood.

Google and Amazon may offer voice controlled speakers for the home, but Microsoft technology is also powering smart home devices, including this smart home hub called Nevo Butler. Created by Universal Electronics, there are white-labelled Nevo Butler kits for home safety and security, energy management and hospitality.
