The Federal Government-funded Advanced Manufacturing Growth Centre (AMGC) is helping Brisbane company Movus offer its industrial IoT service at a reduced price.

A co-funding arrangement with AMGC will allow Movus to offer 12-month FitMachine Starter Kit subscriptions to 50 Australian small to medium manufacturers for half price.

The kit includes ten sensors, WiFi/4G gateway, a mobile app and access to the Movus platform and dashboard.

A Movus press release describes FitMachine as a continuous monitoring service for rotating industrial equipment, such as pumps, motors, blowers, fans, compressors, chillers, cyclones, screens, cooling towers, gearboxes and generators.

It monitors temperature, vibration and noise and uses AI to predict failures, sending alerts about problems to staff members. Users could include business owners, maintenance personnel and plant and production managers.

Customers listed on the Movus web site include Anglo American Moranbah North Mine, which deployed FitMachine to monitor equipment in its wash plant.

Australian meat processing company Thomas Foods International deployed FitMachine to monitor its water distribution system in its processing plant in South Australia.

Asahi Beverages, Wesfarmers and the The University of Queensland are also listed as customers. Telstra is listed as a Movus reseller.

AMGC Managing Director Dr Jens Goennemann described the partnership with Movus as “an outstanding opportunity for AMGC to get behind an affordable machine monitoring solution to manufacturing SMEs, to help them further boost their business and operations.”

“The FitMachine Starter Kit project is another way AMGC is looking to support Australian manufacturing to compete globally through innovation, productivity and job growth opportunities, for the benefit of our industry,” Dr Goennemann said.
