Cisco has revised its expert-level certified internetwork expert (CCIE) and design expert (CCDE) skills certifications with a requirement to demonstrate IoT knowledge.
The vendor said in a statement that professionals “need a breadth of understanding of interrelated technologies and how they impact business outcomes”.
“Accordingly, topics such as IoT, cloud, business transformation, and network programmability will influence all Cisco Career Certifications, including the trusted expert level,” Cisco said.
“The new framework will be introduced starting with the upcoming refresh of Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE) Data Center and Cisco Certified Network Associate Security (CCNA).”
On the IoT, Cisco certified experts will be asked to describe “architectural framework and deployment considerations”, covering aspects such as performance, reliability, scalability, security, standards and environmental impacts on the network.
