Spammers have made businesses wary of listing their details in business directories and databases, but will they think differently about a “Smart City” database?

The City of Sydney is inviting local businesses and research institutions with smart city capabilities to supply details for such a database.

The Sydney Smart Cities Business Database will be used to showcase smart city products and services to international buyers and investors, according to the web site collecting the data.

It will also be a “reference point” for international delegations, chambers of commerce and stakeholders looking to connect with smart city solution providers.

The international offices of state and federal government, bilateral chambers of commerce and consular corps will have access to the data.

The invitation comes ahead of the Future Asia Business Summit in Sydney on July 23 and 24, 2019.
