Dell and Intel will stump up $180,000 in prize money for a worldwide search for innovative IoT applications.

The competition, called Connect What Matters, calls for individuals and teams to find innovative uses for Dell edge gateways.

On offer are 16 prizes consisting of cash, Dell products and services. The cash component consists of an award prize and “go-to-market funds to market your solution”, according to terms and conditions.

The non-cash component includes Dell hardware and software, access to the vendor’s IoT consultants and IoT Lab, and a co-marketing pot of funds.

“The contest is open to commercial companies and solutions can be developed for any vertical,” Dell said in a statement.

A dropdown box on the competition registration page appears to allow entrants from Australia and New Zealand.

Entries close March 31, 2016. The winners will be announced in either May or June 2016.
