Dell has added to its Internet of Things portfolio with the release of two new embedded PCs.

Announced at Embedded World in Nuremberg, Germany, the Embedded Box PC 3000 and 5000 series devices are fanless, ruggedised and expand Dell’s offerings in the IoT space.

The 3000 Series is powered by Intel Atom E3800 processors and designed for space-constrained applications, such as retail kiosks, automated vending devices and vehicles.

The 5000 Series possesses more grunt, containing a 6th gen Intel Core-i processor and is expected to have applications in more industrial settings.

Both PCs are capable of running a number of operating systems, including Microsoft Windows 7 Pro, Windows 7 Embedded, Windows 10 Pro, Windows 10 IoT Enterprise LTSB and Ubuntu Desktop.

According to Dell, the Box PCs will benefit from the company’s global support and deployment services including ProSupport, which provides up to five years of end-to-end hardware support for the entire product lifecycle.

Both devices will be available in “select countries” from June this year.
