Location services firm HERE has struck a partnership with Actility to make it easier to locate field-based assets over low power wireless networks.
The idea is to provide an energy efficient way to perform asset management in logistics and supply chains.
“The combined solution can locate any asset, such as a tool or piece of equipment, with minimal energy consumption and low cost of ownership, bringing plant-to-store goods tracking or industrial supply chain transparency to life,” the two firms said in a statement.
Actility powers LoRaWAN low power wireless networks for about 50 service providers worldwide, including Australia’s NNNCo.
Low power wireless networks have emerged as a key connectivity mechanism for internet of things projects.
“Today, we are very enthusiastic to join forces with HERE to fill what we believe to be a gap in the market: multi-country, low-power geolocation solutions with increased accuracy in almost every situation,” Actility CEO Olivier Hersent said in a statement.
