NSW high voltage electricity transmission operator TransGrid has cut a five year managed services deal with outsourcer HCL that could bring a greater use of internet of things to its operations.

Under the deal, HCL will create a “transformation roadmap" for TransGrid.

“We are delighted to partner with TransGrid on its transformation journey. In an increasingly digitalised world, HCL’s core capabilities in next-gen services such as digital, internet of things (IoT) and cybersecurity is best positioned to drive critical technology transformation and realise business success,” HCL Technologies senior vice president for Australia Michael Horton said.

HCL will also provide outsourcing support for business-as-usual IT functions like service desk, data centre, end user computing and applications for the next five years.
