Visa is expanding its Visa Ready program to include IoT companies, such as manufacturers of wearables, motor vehicles, appliances, public transportation services and clothing.
Making the announcement at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Visa said these companies will join mobile device manufacturers, including mobile point-of-sale (mPOS) providers, mobile NFC-enabled device manufacturers and other technology partners in the Visa Ready program.
This means that these IoT companies will be able to integrate secure payments into their products and services, including access to Visa’s Digital Enablement Program (VDEP) and the Visa Token Service (VTS).
The first round of IoT companies to join the program include Accenture, Coin, Giesecke & Devrient, Fit Pay and Samsung, who will work with device manufacturers including Chronos and Pebble.
These companies will focus on payments for wearables and cars.
